Uptown Open Mic Featuring Karen Rodriquez!

The Uptown Open is a safe space for poets, spoken word artists, emcees, scholars and activists to share their voices. These events are run for by youth, for youth, with DJs, youth hosts and a monthly featured poet. Get there early to get on the list. Hosted by the World Wide Leadership Board.

ABOUT THE FEATURE:
Karen Rodriguez is a poet from Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a political analyst and researcher who is currently working on projects about Race and White Privilege. She is also a playwright and an activist known for her work: Hands UP and poems like “Dear White Guy”, “Perejil” and “Black”. Currently working on the first University of Utah NAACP chapter she is bringing up the conversation of Latin, Black and Native privileges in her state and advocating for the LGBTQ community in state prisons through Black&Pink.org
