We currently collaborate with over 100 New York City schools and programs to provide a wide variety of arts to students in NYC as well as professional development workshops to educators on site in schools and youth organizations. Our dynamic mentors and teaching artists lead workshops that provide fun, yet rigorous learning experiences where students gain artistic, academic and social development. Our programs can be designed and tailored to fit the needs and interests of your group.
Each year, UW hosts four annual conferences for educators, artists, and community activists. Hosted by faculty and university programs at New York University, Columbia University’s Teachers College, the University of Wisconsin, Michigan State University and the University of California, Los Angeles, the Preemptive Educative Conference is a hub for dialogue and professional development around critical literacy, creative writing and arts-based pedagogy and social justice.
Ths summer annual, week-long conference in partnership with UW-Madison’s Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives offers educators and community leaders the platform to apply educational theories such as socio-cultural theory, culturally relevant pedagogy, critical race theory, hip hop and social justice pedagogies in order to connect hip hop as an art form and an instructional tool to improve the academic success of their students.
